On the shore, Kawamura continues to assert his dominance with a fiery passion. In 2016, he launched the STEEZ SC (Shore Competition) series, producing three legendary rods: FIRE WOLF, KING VIPER, and SC WEREWOLF. His next focus was a crankbait rod. Given the nature of shore fishing, where carrying multiple rods is difficult, versatility became the primary goal.

Previously, glass-model rods like the BL+661MLFB-G excelled with cranks in general but offered little advantage with low-resistance lures. Conversely, low-modulus carbon (Low Modulus) rods, such as the 06 & 16 BLITZ models, lacked versatility with larger lures. Development was extremely challenging, requiring repeated testing.
"We spent two years achieving a wide tolerance, sharp release, and sensitivity to even small vibrations. Through repeated fine-tuning, we finally arrived at SVF glass with a delicate tip as the solution."
The delicate tip, made of SVF glass—which has a lower modulus than carbon—preserves the action of any lure and offers excellent follow-through on bites, allowing fish to hook themselves naturally. The Gratech structure, using SVF glass with minimized resin content, significantly enhances winding sensitivity.
From the supple tip, the belly and butt transition into a fast taper reinforced with Low Modulus carbon. The X45 full shield strengthens the entire blank, enabling sharp casts with regular-class cranks, effortless handling of crawler baits around 20g, and rapid extraction of fish from cover.
The handle features a versatile mid-length suitable for both single and double-handed casts. The high-grade cork grip gains character over time, and the round butt end prevents interference while maintaining solid control during strikes.
Additionally, for the first time in STEEZ history, a colored blank—“Kawamura Brown”—is used, giving a nod to the traditional fast-moving lure rods while adding brilliance. It embodies Kawamura’s determination to challenge the next stage in the world of winding techniques.
