Technology Details
High-strength aluminum construction reduces twisting during retrieve and limits power loss. The body shape, long clutch bar and large star drag were developed around secure holding and practical operation.
Three captive side-plate screws allow the cover and genuine spool to be removed with the supplied hex wrench. This supports rapid response to line breakage or a change in PE size.
A large mechanical-brake knob can be adjusted with the thumb. Interchangeable centrifugal brake collars support light underhand casting when used with the mechanical brake.
A mechanical stopper supplements the primary anti-reverse system as a durable safety mechanism.
The clicker sounds as line is pulled out for tasks such as threading line through guides; it is not intended for fighting fish while engaged.

CATALINA was developed as a field-first jigging reel: a rigid body, strong gear set and practical controls come before decorative complexity. The 15H-SJ tester program specifically targeted a familiar, sensitive slow-jigging feel, secure palming and reduced fatigue during long retrieves.
