The KYOHGA X series is the definitive entry-level model for serious offshore cutlassfish (tachiuo) jigging. Designed for anglers who want a specialized rod that keeps them comfortable and focused all day, KYOHGA X delivers Daiwa’s engineering precision and reliability at an accessible level. Each model is fine-tuned for the rhythm and control unique to tachiuo jigging—balancing sensitivity, operability, and power for smooth jig action and solid hook sets.
Built on a center-cut two-piece design, KYOHGA X combines excellent portability with seamless bending curves, making it ideal for storage or transport even in small vehicles or train trips. The original reel seat provides a deep fit and superior comfort, reducing hand fatigue during long sessions. BRAIDING X carbon reinforcement wraps the butt section in an X-pattern, minimizing blank twisting and power loss, ensuring that every motion translates directly into lure control and hook-setting strength.
The blank’s moderate taper and controlled stiffness make it easy to execute one-pitch jerks while maintaining tension that encourages automatic hook-ups. The design also prevents the jig from bouncing too sharply, letting the lure stay in the strike zone longer—especially effective for the subtle, gliding presentations cutlassfish respond to best. The name area features a rich purple iridescent finish, reflecting KYOHGA’s distinct identity and premium aesthetic.
Three models cover all situations:
63B-1.5 – Optimized for shallow to mid-depths up to 100 m, this moderate 1.5-power rod is ideal for slow one-pitch jerks that show the jig naturally, with auto-hooking flexibility. Perfect for Tokyo Bay, Suruga Bay, and Hakata regions.
63B-2 – A true all-rounder for beginners and experts alike. With power to work jigs from 60–180 g and depths up to 150 m, it handles diverse conditions and areas across Japan—an excellent first choice for newcomers to tachiuo jigging.
63B-3 – A firmer, regular-slow taper tuned for deep water and larger fish. The stiffer tip detects bites in the depths and lifts heavy cutlassfish cleanly from 150 m or more. Suited for deep zones of Kagoshima, Oita, Toyama Bay, and midwinter Tokyo Bay.
With KYOHGA X, Daiwa brings the world of specialized tachiuo jigging within reach—light, durable, and easy to master, yet ready for hard fights with the gleaming silver predator of the deep.
