Shimano Grappler Type LJ is a standard light-jigging rod series designed to cover a broad range of nearshore situations. Developed for increasingly technical light jigging, its slim-diameter blank bends smoothly throughout the rod to manipulate small jigs with light, fluid action. The flexible and progressive bend also helps reduce fish losses and line breaks when fighting with thin PE line. Spiral X and Hi-Power X reinforce the slim blank against twisting, unwanted vibration and power loss, allowing the blank to deliver its intended performance. All six models use a versatile 6'3" length and are offered in three power levels for both baitcasting and spinning configurations. Baitcasting models feature Shimano's Technical Holding Seat, a light-jigging-oriented version of the Full Holding Seat with a seamless, low-step design, flat underside and short EVA rear grip for secure and stable holding. Spinning models use the lightweight, high-sensitivity Perfection Seat XT made with CI4+, providing a slim, comfortable grip and efficient vibration transmission. A separate grip supports light handling, sensitivity, accurate jerking and sustained performance during long sessions, while all models use a two-piece grip-joint construction. B63-1 is rated for 40-130 g jigs and PE up to 1.5, B63-2 for 50-160 g and PE up to 2, and B63-3 for 60-180 g and PE up to 2. The spinning S63-1 covers 30-130 g and PE up to 1.5, S63-2 covers 40-160 g and PE up to 2, and S63-3 covers 50-180 g and PE up to 2. The lineup is designed for approximate depths from 70 m plus to 100 m plus and target sizes from approximately 6 kg plus to 10 kg plus depending on model.
