Shimano Grappler Type SLJ is a dedicated super light jigging series designed for more delicate applications than the Type LJ. Its slim-diameter blank bends smoothly throughout the rod, allowing anglers to control small, lightweight jigs with a flexible and fluid action even when their resistance is difficult to feel. The smooth progressive bend helps reduce fish losses and line breaks when fighting with thin PE line, while retaining the strength needed to lift unexpectedly large fish. Spiral X and Hi-Power X suppress twisting, unwanted vibration and power loss associated with slim blanks, helping the rod maintain precise response and power transmission. The regular-fast action is designed to load the weight of a light jig and work it softly, making it possible to adjust darting and falling distance while also supporting casting and diagonal retrieves. Baitcasting models use Shimano's Technical Holding Seat, a light-jigging-oriented version of the Full Holding Seat featuring a seamless low-step hood, flat underside and short EVA grip for improved fit and stability. Spinning models use the slim and lightweight Perfection Seat XT made with CI4+, combining secure holding, high sensitivity and reduced hand fatigue during extended jigging. A separate grip supports light handling, sensitivity and accurate jerking, and all models use a two-piece grip-joint construction. The lineup consists of B63-0, a 6'3" baitcasting model rated for 30-100 g jigs and PE up to 1.2, plus two 6'6" spinning models: S66-00 for 10-80 g jigs and PE up to 1, and S66-0 for 20-100 g jigs and PE up to 1.2. B63-0 and S66-0 are intended for approximately 60 m plus depths and target fish around 5 kg plus, while S66-00 is intended for approximately 50 m plus depths and target fish around 4 kg plus.
