Shimano Deep Soldier
Shimano Deep Soldier is a specialized deep-sea boat rod series engineered for demanding fishing at depths that can exceed 500 m. It combines the strength required to withstand heavy and complex currents, heavy sinkers, multiple-hook catches, large fish and heavy rigs with the sensitivity needed to detect subtle bites far below the surface.
The four-model lineup is tuned for different depth ranges and target species. The 205 0 is designed for mid-depth to light deep-sea fishing and uses a UD glass tubular blank reinforced with Spiral X Core and Hi-Power X.
Its lightweight, high-strength construction balances hand-held operability, power and flexibility, while the tubular design provides responsive rig control. It uses a 6:4 action and is primarily suited to 120-250 sinker sizes for species such as Akamutsu, Kuromutsu, light Kinmedai, Onikasago and Yariika.
The 205 I, 205 II and 205 III use high-strength solid glass blanks reinforced with carbon tape in an X pattern through Hi-Power X Full Solid. This construction retains the flexibility and tenacity of solid glass while suppressing twisting, unwanted vibration and power loss under the extreme loads encountered in deep water.
The 205 I has a 6:4 action optimized for light Kinmedai and deep-water multi-species fishing, mainly with 250-400 sinker sizes. The 205 II adopts a 7:3 action and powerful butt capable of handling sinkers up to size 600, making it suitable for serious Kinmedai, Akodai, Aburabozu and Madara fishing as well as multiple-hook catches.
The 205 III is the most powerful model, with a 7:3 action designed around loads up to size 800, approximately 3 kg, for demanding targets including Beniakou, Akodai and Aburabozu. Heavy-duty equipment includes Shimano's original aluminum reel seat with double locking nuts and resin cushioning, all-gold-color-frame SiC guides, a lightweight high-strength aluminum hold position that improves rod-holder stability, a robust safety-rope ring and a detachable butt-section two-piece construction.
