Gamafune Umazurahagi SP Series Rod
The Gamafune Umazurahagi SP series is a specialized boat fishing rod developed exclusively for targeting leatherjacket fish (Umazurahagi) in coastal Japanese waters such as the Seto Inland Sea. It is designed to deliver high responsiveness, precise bite detection, and aggressive hook-setting performance for technical bottom fishing.
Built with Gamakatsu’s advanced rod engineering, this series focuses on a highly responsive blank structure combined with a sensitive “kawase tip” (bite-cushioning tip) that allows anglers to instantly detect and react to subtle bites.
The rod features a fast and aggressive action profile, making it ideal for “strike-based fishing” where anglers actively detect bites and immediately set the hook. This enhances efficiency when targeting cautious and fast-pecking Umazurahagi.
The blank is constructed using a high-carbon composite design (C90% + G10%), offering a balance between light weight, sensitivity, and structural strength. This allows anglers to clearly feel bottom structure, bait movement, and even micro bites with high precision.
