The Shimano Limited Pro FW Light Special is an ultra-lightweight 8.5 m ayu rod developed around exceptional handling precision, sensitivity and full-season performance. At only 172 g, it is Shimano's lightest 8.5 m ayu rod at the time of its introduction. The shorter 8.5 m length reduces both perceived weight and wind resistance compared with a 9 m rod, while the H2.25 power setting provides greater strength than the previous H2.0 Light Special. Its sharp, stable blank is designed to minimize unwanted body movement, allowing highly precise control of the live decoy, particularly during upright-rod swimming techniques and presentations using upward tension. The supple first and second sections make fine line-slack adjustment and delicate decoy manipulation easier, while the firmer mid and butt sections provide responsive power when a fish is hooked. Spiral X Core reinforces the thin-wall blank against twisting and crushing, helping combine extreme lightness with dependable strength and an efficient rod curve. High-Power X Tip improves torsional rigidity in the slender tip, while Excite Top II uses Shimano's high-modulus solid construction inside the tubular tip to enhance sensitivity. Additional technologies include Nano Pitch, G Cross Protector, the rotating Chokan Top and Shittori Grip. The recommended ayu size is approximately 13-20 cm, giving the rod the versatility to perform throughout the season.
