Shimano Takomaster SS

Shimano Takomaster SS is a dedicated boat octopus rod series developed to enhance the sensitivity and game-like nature of octopus fishing. Its lightweight blank uses Spiral X construction, with carbon tape wound diagonally in opposite directions over the inner and outer layers of longitudinal fibers.

This structure maintains low weight while increasing torsional rigidity and resistance to crushing, providing sharp control for repeatedly working octopus egi, stable hooking performance and strong butt power for fighting exceptionally large octopus. The glass-solid tip combines flexibility, resilience and strength, offering both sensitivity and smooth loading so subtle contact can be detected without easily rejecting an octopus as it takes the lure.

A Multi-Palming CI4+ Seat uses Shimano's carbon-reinforced CI4+ material in a blank-through trigger-style reel seat. Its compact, slim, low-center-of-gravity design provides secure palming, light weight and high sensitivity, helping reduce fatigue during prolonged lure manipulation.

The lineup includes three specialized models. S175 is designed for delicate fishing over relatively flat bottom and shallow water, with a flexible tip that bends deeply and allows fine, localized lure action without moving the egi far from one point.

M175 has a firmer tip for rocky bottom, deeper water and areas around seaweed, enabling more direct and precise lure control. MH170 is designed for fast currents, very deep water and rough structure, as well as rigs with greater underwater resistance such as bait-wrapped presentations, attractants, luminous accessories and other high-appeal setups.

Additional features include a stainless-frame SiC ring top guide and center-cut two-piece construction. Technologies include Spiral X and CI4+.
